Rayados released the following medical statement confirming the injury, after the medical tests that Canales underwent in Los Angeles (California, USA) a few days ago and which led the medical services to recommend that he undergo operation: “The Club de Futbol Monterrey Rayados reports that, after a medical examination performed on Sergio Canales in Los Angeles, California, it was concluded that the player underwent surgery to repair a myotendinous injury to the rectus femoris of the left quadriceps . Instead of performing a conservative treatment that has also been evaluated, it is determined to perform the operation with the aim of reducing the risk of relapse when the player returns to activity. Sergio’s recovery will be subject to the evolution he shows after the surgical intervention.”
Since signing for Rayados de Monterrey in July, Sergio Canales has played a total of ten games for the Mexican side, scoring five goals, four of them from penalties.
