the norwegian Casper Ruudnumber eight in the world rankings, has taken a new step to reaffirm the title he won last year, after proving his classification for Geneva tournament semi-finals by dominance 6-4 and 7-6 (3) in Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Ruud, who already played last week in the semifinals of the Masters 1,000 in Rome, didn’t miss the second “break” ball he had throughout the first set to win the first set (6-4) by breaking service of the Australian in the tenth and final game.
The Norwegian had no chance to break his rival’s serve again, forcing him to arrange the second set in a “tie Break” where Casper Ruud did not give Kokkinakis any option, as seen in the final 7-3.
Casper Ruud measured in the semifinals with the American Reilly Opelkaseeded number four in the tournament, won by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-2 in Dutch Tallon Griekspoor in the quarterfinals.
