The 141st Session of the IOC approved this Sunday, by a majority vote by show of hands, that the places for the 2030 and 2034 Winter Games were awarded at the same time.
The Session meets in Bombay (India), where two days ago the Executive of the organization considering that by 2040 there will be no more than ten countries in a position to organize snow events of the Games, due to the climate crisis.
Austrian Karl Hoss, president of the Future Winter Host Commission, informed the assembly that Switzerland, Sweden and France are the most advanced countries in their plans to organize the 2030 Games. All of them are about to finish their studies.
Salt Lake City, in the United States, has expressed its desire for the 2034 Gamesbut “it will be available for 2030 if needed”
Other national Olympic committees, not mentioned by Hoss, have indicated their intention to be considered for future editions.
