After a seven-year-old boy was sexually abused on the Danube Island in July 2013, a 58-year-old man was now arrested by the police – ten years later.
In July 2013, a previously unknown perpetrator seriously sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl: she was approached by a man in a water playground on Danube Island. The perpetrator lifted the child over the playground fence, took him unnoticed and took him to a nearby bush.
The investigation did not lead to the identification of the perpetrator at the time. However, the man had filmed the crime, which now became his downfall. In connection with investigations into drug-related crimes, Vienna police detectives this year notified a 58-year-old Austrian citizen.
Tens of thousands of illegal data
Tens of thousands of illegal files containing pornographic images of minors were found during the seizure of data storage devices, mobile phones and tablets. That is why the detectives from the sex crimes investigation area took over the further investigation.
These data carriers contained, among other things, videos showing the crime in July 2013. The Vienna public prosecutor’s office therefore ordered the arrest of the suspect.
Suspect in custody
The 58-year-old is already in custody. He provided no information about the allegations. He simply stated that he was the man in the seized videos.
The police have already made contact with the girl, who is now 18 years old. “We have contacted victim protection organizations for close support, as the suspect has just been arrested,” press spokesman Philipp Haßlinger told the “Krone”. In such crimes, the female victim is also accompanied by specially trained female officers during police interrogations.
