Slovakia giant step

Date:

Slovakia take a giant step towards German Euro 2024 after beating surprising Luxembourg 0-1 on Monday, thanks to a goal from David Duris with 13 minutes left in regulation time.

It was all a blow for the Luxembourg team, which came into the event poised to rise to second place in Group J and go on to qualify for a major national team tournament for the first time in its history.

A dream that seemed to come true after 23 minutes when the Spanish referee José María Sánchez Martínez declared as a penalty a tackle of Denis Vavro about Leandro Barreiro.

Maximum penalty missed by the Luxembourg team since the referee, after reviewing the video images, corrected his first decision and made the penalty invalid.

A bit of a setback for the locals, who suffered another bigger goal in the 77′ of Duriswho didn’t waste a pass David Hanko to establish the final 0-1, which reaffirmed Slovakia in second place in the group.
