Borja Mayoral, Madrid striker for Getafe and scorer of four goals in the first nine days of the Liga, started the season “in the best possible way” in his “best season” as a professional footballer.
Mayoral, 26, is in his third season at Getafe and, in nine league games played – eight as a starter – he has scored four goals, a third of his team’s twelve.
“I think I started the season in the best possible way, scoring goals and helping the team a lot. I think this is my best season and my best start,” said Mayoral, winner of Five Star player of the month award for September.
“I am very happy to receive this award and I thank the fans for voting for me. Beyond the individual trophy, I think we are all doing things well and it is something that is reflected on the field,” he confessed.
“We are on the right line although it is true that we are facing very tough rivals, rivals who will definitely lead the standings and we do not want to be left behind. We have passed these matches on a very high note, we must continue on this line and try get more victories to move up the standings,” he concluded.
