The former Russian international was arrested for attempting to sell half a kilo of methylephedrine

The former Russian footballer Alexei Bugaevwho disputed the Euro 2004was arrested today for attempting to sell nearly half a kilo of methylephedrine, a doping substance.

Bugaevwho will remain in preventive detention until December 31 by decision of a court in the southern city of Krasnodar, could be sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The drug was found in the pocket of the former soccer player, who had intended to go to the spa Sochi (Black Sea) to continue selling it, which is why a criminal case was initiated against Bugaev.

Bugaev42, admitted that he offered resistance when police were trying to clarify whether he had committed a crime related to drug trafficking.

The defender had disciplinary problems during his career due to his tendency to drink alcohol.
