Diakhaby participated with young players from the Valencia CF Academy Residence in a Workshop Against Discrimination and Racism organized by the Psycho-Educational Department within the VCF Educa program of the VCF World campaign.
“We must fight against all racist insults and we must continue because Valencia CF works very well, fight hard, run a good campaign and educate people, not hide the problem, and talk to those child about what it is and how to eradicate it,” said Diakhaby.
The Guinean international centre-back explained his experiences with an issue such as racism that transcends the football field. “Racism is a battle that goes beyond football. We have to be forced in the face of racism,” he stressed to the young players between 12 and 14 years old who live in the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna.
“We talked about a lot of things about football and racism, and about my experience with these issues to explain and convey to them how to deal with these situations with very important issues,” he highlighted.
Luck, work and discipline
The Valencian defender also shared his experience and his career until arriving at Valencia CF, recalling his arrival at the Mestalla club and his start in professional football. “To be a professional you have to have a level of luck, work and discipline. And be very strong mentally,” he stressed.
“When I debuted I thought: I want to live this feeling again. That is why the most important thing does not come but to continue working and to be mentally strong,” warned Diakhaby in the speech where they talked about motivations, disappointments, joys, titles, if how to maintain clarity and concentration, the help of colleagues, family and injuries.
“I loved this meeting with the children of the VCF Academy. We have to repeat it so that we can share with them the experience of how we got to the first team,” he concluded.
