According to the Dutch press this Thursday, Marc Overmas asked to return to Ajax shortly after being dismissed for sexually harassing several employees of the Amsterdam club, in February 2022. And the Dutch club demanded two conditions in return from the current Antwerp sports director: that he ‘go into hiding’ for a few period and he is therapy.
However, it seems that the former Barcelona player did not follow through on the agreement, despite making a timid attempt. Overmars was supposed to attend the sessions seeking professional help, but on the second visit he got tired and stopped going, so Ajax refused his return to the club. He resigned “because it wasn’t for him”, as quoted by ‘Het Parool’. Just two months later, Overmars joined Antwerp, in the same position he had at Ajax.
