Borussia Dortmund on Monday made official the signing of Turkish midfielder Salih Özcan, from Cologne, for a figure close to 10 million euros. He is considered a replacement for Axel Witsel (who after leaving Dortmund found himself without a team) and is already a reinforcement from the ‘post Haaland’ era. The Norwegian star left for Manchester City.
Özcan, 24, will sign until 2026 for the Signal Iduna Park club. The midfielder came to the Cologne first team in 2016 from the lower categories of that club, which in 2019 he loaned to Holstein Kiel. He was an international for Turkey at one time.
Borussia Dortmund have no coach after announcing the agreement between Marco Rose and the club for the hitherto coach to leave office. Edin Terzic could be his replacement. Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga and were eliminated by Rangers in the Europa League playoffs.
