Everton fans have raised 27,000 pounds (30,000 euros) to protest the ten-point penalty the Premier League handed them for financial irregularities.
An independent Premier League commission sanctioned Everton the ten point discount for exceeding the limit of 105 million pounds of losses in three years during the 2021-2022 season.
The decision unleashed the fury of Everton and its fans, who did not understand why they received this penalty while the six founding clubs of the European Super League had to pay only 22 million pounds in total as a penalty and Manchester City remains unpunished despite being accused of 115 financial irregularities.
In less than 48 hours, Toffees fans raised £27,000 to be used in buy flags and banners to display in the stadium in protest in this decision. The Everton fans’ group described the penalty as “a disgrace” and “senseless”.
Fans They hope to increase this number in the coming days, ahead of the first game after the suspension, which will be played this Sunday against Manchester United at Goodison Park.
