Kurt Zouma, a West Ham defender, will go to court tomorrow for attacks on his cats after being recorded and distributed by his brother, who will also have to face justice.
The French player appeared in February in a video slapping and kicking one of his cats, a scene recorded by his younger brother Yoan, also a footballer, who was immediately suspended by Dagenham & Redbridge, the English Fifth Division.
Zouma had to face a fine of 250,000 pounds (about 300,000 euros) and lose custody of the cats, which continue to be in the care of the British animal welfare organization (RSPCA, for its acronym in English) after taking legal action against two siblings.
The cases they face
Zouma faces three cases of “unnecessary harm” to the animal and for failing to protect the cat from “injury, illness or disease”. Zouma’s brother Yoan faces two charges for helping Kurt hurt the animals.
The first hearing of the trial will take place tomorrow at the Thames Courthouse in the British capital.
