Cam Davis leads the local army to lead the Australian Open after day oneDP World Tour golf tournament, with a score of 63 strokes (-9), after a day full of victories and without any mistakes.
Seven birdies and an eagle on the par five 14th hole marked his spectacular round which makes it a starting point, with one impact ahead of American Patrick Rodgers and two ahead of his compatriot Hayden Hopewell and Scotsman Connor Syme.
Fourth at the last PGA Championship, Davis has been tough on The Lakes club course in Sydney. The tournament is also played at The Australian Golf Club.
Australian Min Yoo Lee also got off to a good start, winning on Sunday in Brisbanewith five strokes under par, tied for ninth place with a large group that included Chilean Joaquín Niemann and Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas.
Ángel Ayora is the best Spaniard, with 69 strokes at The Australian (-3), while Alfredo García-Heredia closed the day with -2 at The Lakes. Joel Moscatel, last week’s revelation, started at -1 and therefore has a chance to make the cut, something Rafa Cabrera Bello had to fight hard after making +3.
