The other two candidates are the American Ryan Crouser, world champion this year in Budapest and world record holder in the shot put with 23.56 meters, and the Indian Neeraj Chopraworld champion javelin thrower and Asian Games winner.
The selection of these finalists was determined among members of the World Athletics Council, the athletes themselves and fans through World Athletics’ social media platforms, where two million votes were registered.
