Mauricio Pochettino is the coach of choice this summer to try to find the key and get Chelsea back on track and that means having to make complex decisions that aren’t to everyone’s taste.
That is why Stamford Bridge fell silent when, losing by a small margin to Chelsea in the first half, Pochettino decided that the team’s problem was the most expensive signing in the history of the Premier League: Enzo Fernández.
The Argentine midfielder, for whom 121 million euros were paid, went from having an undisputed role to being expendable in recent weeks. Indeed, against Sheffield United he came on as a substitute for the first time in England and, although he regained a starting place against Newcastle, things went from bad to worse.
Enzo Fernandez could see it coming. Callum Wilson scored after a terrible error by Badiashille and the ‘blues’ were struggling inside. Broja was on the sideline to come in and the world champion looked strange, and then left the sideline with an unfriendly face. Hopefully this won’t cause an internal conflict at Chelsea.
