Russian Daniil Medvedev will defend his title on the lawn of Mallorca

Russian Daniil Medvedev, current champion of the Mallorca Championschips ATP 250, will defend his title on the lawn of the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça (Calviá), an ATP 250 category tournament that, starting June 18, will bring together, among others, five tennis players are ranked in the top twenty players in the world.

Medvedev, number 2 in the ATP rankings, defeated American Sam Querrey in the first edition of the singles tournament on natural grass taking place in Spain before Wimbledon.

The Spanish representatives were Pablo Carreño, Olympic medalist, and Roberto Bautista Agut, Wimbledon 2019 semifinalist, as confirmed by the organizers.

It also features the participation of Hubert Hurkacz, Wimbledon semifinalist, Miami 2021 Masters 1000 champion, former top 10 and currently number 13 in the world.

The Polish tennis player was Roger Federer’s last executioner at Wimbledon and the only one in history capable of endorsing the Swiss 6-0 in a Grand Slam tournament.

On the other hand, Canadian Denis Shapovalov, last year’s semifinalist at Wimbledon and able to beat Rafa Nadal at the age of 17, has also confirmed his participation.

Australian and this year’s Australian Open doubles champion Nick Kyrgios is also confirmed to attend the event.

American John Isner, champion of 16 ATP titles and winner of the longest fight in history, certainly on grass, is another of the attractions of the Majorcan tournament.

Among the remaining players registered for the tournament, Australian Open 2021 semifinalist Aslan Karatsev or Indian Wells recent quarterfinalist Miomir Kecmanovic stand out.

The list of players registered with the Mallorca Championschips and the place they occupy in the ATP classification consists of: Daniel Altmaier (Germany, 53); Sebastian Baez, (Argentina, 36); Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain, 19); Benjamín Bonzi (France, 52) and Pablo Carreño Busta (Spain, 18).

They will also play Laslo Djere (Serbia, 56); Marcos Girón (United States, 49); Tallon Griekspoor (Netherlands, 58); Lloyd Harris (Republic of South Africa, 39); John Isner (United States, 26); Ilya Ivashka (Belarus, 50); Aslan Karatsev (Russia, 41); Miomir Kecmanovic (Serbia, 31) and Daniil Medvedev (Russia, 2).
