Russian Andrei Rublev, number five in the world ranking, achieved his first title of the season by winning the 250 Hong Kong Open, where he defeated Finn Emil Ruusuvuori in the final 6-4 and 6-4 in one hour and eighteen minutes.
Rublev had a good match summed up with 74% service points won, 69% first serve success, six unforced errors out of thirteen against his rival and no double faults out of four against Ruusuvuori.
The Russian tennis player reached the final after defeating the British Liam Broady in the round of 16, the Frenchman Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals and the Chinese Shang Juncheng in the semifinals, an 18-year-old player who became the revelation of the tournament.
Rublev played in the 24th final of his career, in which he won, including this one in Hong Kong, fifteen. Last season he played in four finals and won two titles, both on clay, in Bastad (Sweden) and Monte Carlo.
For Ruusuvuori, 37th in the world ranking, this is his second final on the ATP circuit after the one he played in Pune (India) in 2022. That time he lost in three sets to Portuguese Joao Sousa.
