The Australian Open organization sent a message of “love” to Rafa Nadal, who announced on Sunday that he would not play in the tournament, and expressed their “best wishes for a speedy recovery”.
Nadal announced on his social networks that he will not play in the Australian Open after the injury he suffered at the ATP in Brisbane, in the quarterfinal match against local Jordan Thompson.
“We will miss you in Melbourne, Rafa. We send you all our love and our best wishes for a speedy recovery. See you soon on court,” the Australian Open organization announced in its social networks.
Nadal, who reappeared in Brisbane last week after nearly a year away from the court with an iliopsoas injury in his left leg, felt discomfort in the damaged area after playing against Thompson, who hit a winner in twenty-two majors to one resolved the match in three sets and that lasted more than three hours.
Rafa explained in his message that the pain is not a relapse, but rather a small tear in a muscle, so he is optimistic about the recovery, even if it will prevent him from playing in the first Grand Slam of the season, in which he won Twice, the last in 2022.
