Records from Europe, Asia, Africa and ten national brands belong to the 10K Valencia Ibercaja

The 10K Valencia Ibercaja 2024, a trial in which 12,000 athletes participated this Sunday, made history by registering after the competition records from Europe, Asia, Africa and ten national records.

Swiss athlete Dominic Lobalu broke the 10 km European record crossing the finish line with a time of 27:13, equaling the mark set by his compatriot Julien Wanders in 2020.

In addition, the athlete Birhanu Balew, from Bahrain, stopped the clock in 26:57, a record in which he achieved 10km Asian men’s record.

Added to these two continental records is the 10 km record of the African women with World Record achieved by the Kenyan athlete, Agnes Jebetwho became the first woman under 29 minutes away.

The women’s world record achieved is included in the men’s record held by the race since the 2020 edition with 26:24 by Rhonex Kipruto.

In addition to these records, the 10K Valencia Ibercaja also left the Spanish record not far from Abdessamad Oukhelfen (27:44), as well as nine other national records.

Among women, historical records are also broken Uganda (Joy Cheptoyek, 30:03) and Burundi (Francine Niyomukunzi, 30:42).

Among men, the national records of Switzerland (Dominic Lobalu, 27:13), Bahrain (Birhanu Balew, 26:57), Uruguay (Santiago Catrofe, 28:04), Rwanda (Yves Nimubona, 27:49), Sweden (Andreas Almgrem, 27:20) and Djibouti (Mohamed Ismail, 27:27).

Added to this celebration of historical records is veteran Portuguese athlete Rosa Mota, Olympic marathon champion in Seoul 1988, who achieved the best world record in the history of master category 65 (38:45).

Finally, the Danish athlete Axel Vang Christensen also achieved the European U23 10km record (28:21) when the time drops to 28:30.
