Georgy Sudakov (21 years old) ended an outstanding 2023 by winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL). Chosen by the league’s coaches, the Player of the Year award came after a season in which he led the Shakhtar Donetsk on their way to their 14th UPL title.
The talented midfielder, who managed 16 goal contributions in all competitions in the 2022-2023 season, also received the coveted Player of the Year award this week. Shakhtar Donetsk during the team’s concentration on Antalya, Turkey.
The award is voted on by the fans and they have won it before Mykhailo Mudryk – the Chelsea star – and the Benfica goalkeeper, Anatoly Trubin. I want to thank the fans because thanks to their votes I got this award, and to my whole team, this award belongs to them too.”
Fernando Valente, former coach of the B team Shakhtar, also expressed similar sentiments earlier this week highlighting the immense talent of Sudakov in an interview with SportItalia.com. “I have no doubt that he will be an outstanding player. This is not the first time I say that it is a good investment for clubs like City of Manchesterhe Barçahe Bavaria and the Liverpool. “His ability to make decisions under pressure is exceptional.”
