Laia Sanz has seen the finish line of the Dakar 14 times throughout his successful career. Both occasions in which he took part in the departure. A 100% of completed editions that he alone can boast of all the great Spanish names in the world’s toughest rally.
After making history for nine years on motorcycles, the Catalan driver decided to switch to cars in 2022. After two years of adaptation, it is difficult to find an exciting project for 2024 due to the lack of financial support. With the option to continue at Astara, he faces a third year in the cars with the hope of proving himself worthy of a T1. And boy did he achieve it. Sanz finished 15th overall and third in the 4×2 category.
“It was a very positive Dakar, very fun but not because of the result, which was very good and which, of course, I signed. But mainly because the feeling of knowing that, even though we’re clearly lacking in study and car time, we can be ahead”collecting for the EFE agency.
With this very satisfying result, the Spaniard hopes that it will be easier to get support in the future and why not jump to fight the best for the winning Touareg. The most important thing for Corbera de Llobregat is to believe that it can be at the top.
“It’s true that in the second week we didn’t have many clean days but we still had a lot of fun. The Dakar is also about overcoming difficulties, and the whole team did a great job. It’s important to believe in it and see that we can get there.”
