Controversy in Caldes de Montbui: “They lied and deceived the women”

Date:

For some reason or another, in this story the victims are the women. Players who saw their dream of playing football cut short due to lack of interest, laziness, unequal treatment and the desire of some to get money and take advantage of them. The truth is that in Caldes de Montbuiplaying women’s soccer is a chimera.

The club has a senior women’s team that decided to load up this season. This was announced to the players and their families. And logically, they sought refuge with other teams in the area. This is how they went to teams in Palau Plegamans, Mollet or Lliçà d’Amunt, among others. So far, everything is normal.

The fact is that Caldes de Montbui now follows the rule established by the Catalan Federation that any team that signs more than three players from another team must pay a training compensation of 500 euros. It’s a metric that many average teams in the area can’t even imagine. In fact, this rule makes sense to avoid wasting talent, but never to teams that lose and leave their players unable to play.

The proposal reached a point where Esther, who came from a long injury to the cross, sees his signing for Sentmenat as very complicated, unable to bear the costs of this ‘fine’. As for the other players from Caldes’ first team, they see their position in their new team in jeopardy.

Parents of soccer players have created a group that is willing to fight so that their daughters can play soccer. “This is a clear case of machismo and inequality. What happened to Jenni Hermoso is just the tip of the iceberg. Our daughters are going through a lot,” said one of the parents, who relationship with Mundo Deportivo.

At first, no one understood why Caldes decided to destroy a women’s team that worked hard and that was the dream of the girls, if they kept all the men’s teams in the lower categories. “They lie and cheat until the season is over and the girls have to earn a living when they have been playing for a long time. They are ignored,” lamented the father.

In fact, many obstacles have been put in place when it comes to women’s team training by always prioritizing schedules and fields to inferior men’s teams. Furthermore, the girls were not given overalls or their own dressing room, with poor treatment compared to the groups of children, cadets and young men. Sometimes they are only given a piece of field to exercise on for a week.

“They made it clear to us that women’s soccer is here to stay,” said this father. And he denounced the “lack of sensitivity towards the girls, who were left behind and without equipment and now take advantage of this law to get money. They want to do business with them when they are left behind…”.

This group of parents is taking serious action to resolve this issue and is contacting the Caldes City Council to receive assistance. Right now, they want to communicate this situation through Mundo Deportivo to give voice to this kind of inequality that is prevalent in regional football.
