The Spanish Tony Bou34-time test world champion, and the British Emma Bristownine-time TrialGP world champion, the favorites and reigning champion of the Barcelona Indoor Trial and the Women’s Trophy, which will be held this Sunday within Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
The 47th edition of the Barcelona Indoor Trial is, as in the previous edition, the first X-Trial World Cup test of the yearand will feature the top eight finishers from the 2023 World Cup: Toni Bou, Jaime Busto, Gabriel Marcelli, Adam Raga, Toby Martyn, Aniol Gelabert, Matteo Grattarola and Benoit Bincaz.
For its part, in the Women’s Trophy – the female category – the top five finishers from the last TrialGP Women’s World Championship: Emma Bristow, Berta Abellán, Andrea Sofia Rabino, Naomi Monnier and Alice Minta.
The championship starts at a men’s first roundconsisting of eight pilots who will face five zones and will be followed by a test of Women’s Trophyincluding five pilots and five more scoring areas.
Then it will be the turn of men’s second roundagain with eight drivers and five scoring zones, and finally the championship final, with the three best drivers of the day and six zones.
“Every year it’s more complicated, because the young drivers struggle a lot. At 37 years old, the physique is not the same as at 25so I try to take advantage of my experience to have an advantage,” Toni Bou, winner of 16 of the 18 editions of the Barcelona Indoor Trial in which he competed, highlighted this Monday during the presentation of the event.
For his part, the Catalan too Aniol Gelabertwho at 23 years old is making his debut in the competition, assured that he will face the event “very motivated” and set his goal “to make things difficult one day” for Bou, “and if possible, defeat him”.
