“Nico is amazing. Just by giving him the ball it happens like Vinicius and those guys. It attracts a lot of rival players and ultimately what it does is create spaces for you and eliminate rivals. “Nico is amazing as a player and as a person too.”
Yuri and Nico Williams have shared Athletic’s left wing for most of this season. The veteran defender openly acknowledges that it is an advantage for him to have a teammate up front. “I hope he continues on the same path and the future holds good things for him. I am very happy for him and I am very happy to be able to share ground with him. Nico is an airplane and people fear him rival. Very happy that he will stay with us for many more years,” he acknowledges.
Athletic’s veteran left-back also points out the further benefits of being able to share the wing with the diminutive Williams. “Over the years, I learned to defend better than before. Having Nico ahead of my position also means I don’t have to raise the band and thus save a bit of effort, but here we go. I am happy. The bad times are over for me and I’m happy with what’s going on,” he concluded.
