Alexander Davidovich (n.24 ATP), fifth seed, fulfilled his favoritism and sealed his pass to quarterfinals of the Marseille tournament (France), after defeating the Finn in two sets Emil Ruusuvuori (55), for 6-3 and 7-5; meeting thus, for the third time in his career, with the local and fourth favourite, Ugo Humbert (21 ATP).
An hour and 37 minutes of the meeting between two rivals of the same age (24 years), but that on the fast track points to a superiority of the Malaga native.
The first set flowed in the rhythm of Davidovich, who took advantage of two opportunities to break his opponent’s serve – in the seventh and ninth games – and closed the score by 6-3 in his favor.
In the second and final set, the match was even tighter for the Spanish tennis player, who failed in the ninth game and let the score be 5-5. Finally, the Finn gave his service and dictated the victory of Davidovich.
