Lim waives Murthy at the top of Valencia

Date:

The club is releasing a statement announcing Sean Bai as its interim manager as it “begins a search process to identify a new president”.

“With immediate effect, Anil Murthy will cease to be president and associate of Valencia CF.” For example, the Mestalla club is saying goodbye to whoever has been president of the club until now, who is in Singapore to meet Peter Lim a few days after the big demonstration that Mestalla emptied during the last league game. Sean Bai will take over on an interim basis as the club begins a “process to find a new Valencia CF president”.

This is what the official statement from Valencia CF reads:

“Valencia’s board of directors refers to the recent events that have affected the club’s relationship with the fans, government authorities and Valencian civil society. The Council would like to clarify that the contents of the leaked conversations between Anil Murthy and various third parties are personal opinions and not those of Valencia CF. Valencia CF distances itself from said opinions.

“The Council appreciates the importance of a close relationship between the club, society, the fans, the government, the media and other actors associated with Valencia CF. The Council believes that a change in leadership is needed to regain the credibility of the fans and the community to position Valencia CF on the path to success. With immediate effect, Anil Murthy is no longer chairman and associate of Valencia CF.

“The board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Bai as interim CEO. Sean Bai has been with the club since 2018 and is currently the director of the Valencia CF Academy. During this interim period, Bai will mainly oversee Valencia CF’s football activities and will report directly to the board of directors.”

“The Council will immediately start a search process to identify a new Valencia CF president, and an announcement will be made in due course. In the meantime, Khojama Kalimuddin, non-executive director of Valencia CF, will take up the position of chairman of the board to oversee the management of the club during this period.

“The Board of Directors would like to reiterate that Valencia CF is fully committed to achieving its long-term growth and success and completing the construction of the new Mestalla. We look forward to working with fans, authorities and other stakeholders to achieve these goals.”
