What is now approaching is a reality: South Korea was dismissed Jürgen Klinsmann, 59 years old. The former German international is due to leave his position in the Asian team, as announced by the Korean Football Association (KFA) a few hours ago, following elimination at the hands of Jordan in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup last week.
“The KFA decided to replace the national coach after careful consideration“said the president of the federation, Chung Mong-gyu, at a press conference, which fired the German after just one year in charge of the team.”Klinsmann failed to demonstrate the management and leadership skills expected of a national coach in areas ranging from tactics, personnel management to work attitude and other areas required to bring competitiveness to the team.Chung added.
““Klinsmann’s attitude and competitiveness as a coach did not meet expectations (…) So we decided to change course before the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup,” the statement added. Klinsmann, for his part, highlighted on Friday that his mission to South Korea was “an incredible journey” and thanked his players in a message on social media.
