“We have passed the lowest point,” said Sebastian Wolf, CEO of Rosenbauer, in April 2023. Now the world’s largest supplier of fire equipment has put its words into action: according to the preliminary results of the previous year, the company has returned to profitability .
The operating result amounts to 37.4 million euros, the profit before tax amounts to 7.3 million euros – Rosenbauer presented these figures for 2023 on Friday. Returning to the black – a very important step for the company based in Leonding (Upper Austria), which has experienced many turbulences and crises in recent months.
Efficiency program started in August 2022
Delayed deliveries of parts, which in turn resulted in delayed delivery of vehicles, higher costs, changes in the board of directors, a cyber attack that halted production for as long as two weeks – Rosenbauer had shaken it all up.
A self-imposed efficiency improvement program had an effect, but was not yet reflected in the figures in 2022. That’s why CEO Sebastian Wolf had to report a double-digit loss.
Now the worst seems to be over. Thanks to the internal improvements and higher sales prices for the vehicles delivered, the company was able to become profitable again. Turnover also increased last year – from 972.2 million euros to 1.064 billion euros.
New technical director starts in March
An open personnel question has also been clarified: Thomas Biringer, most recently on the management of commercial vehicle specialist Schwarzmüller, will become interim technical director at Rosenbauer from March 11. The position has been vacated since Daniel Tomaschko left in mid-January. Responsibility for technology currently lies with CEO Wolf.
