Good news for Everton. The 10-point penalty imposed on him for breaching the Premier’s financial rules has been reduced to 6 with immediate effect. It was confirmed this Monday by the Goodison Park club itself.
So, by returning 4 points, Everton goes, with 25, from 17th position in the Premier (one away from relegation) to 15th, 5 from the relegation zone itself.
The Appeals Committee decided to reduce Everton’s penalty, showing its satisfaction with the proposal. On November 17, 2013 when the 10-point deduction was applied to the Liverpool club. It was decided by an independent commission.
It is the biggest sporting penalty in Premier history. Everton then declared themselves “shocked” and said they would follow other cases “with interest”, pointing to Manchester City.
In March the Premier launched an independent commission to investigate Everton, which the Premier League itself accused of financial irregularities during the 2021-2022 season, until a trial took place last month.
