He Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is striving to be the leading facility in the permanent circuits of F1 and MotoGP. Therefore, a few weeks ago the Government negotiated the investment of 50 million euros in improvements in the period 2022-2026, at the same time as the end of the current contract with Liberty Media. This represents an increase of 20 million euros compared to what was initially announced for the period 2022-2024.
Improvements to the facilities include the renovation of the pits, the roofs of the stands, the control tower and the pit floors.
This year, work began on the control tower, which is being completely rehabilitated. The briefing room, press room, stewards and timing rooms and the hospitality area will be renovated. New offices and rooms will also be created to host business or social events and meetings.
Among the innovations, the construction of a VIP walkway that will connect the paddock to the interior stand stands out. This addition will appear as a unique element of the layout, along with the visor of the Main Grandstand, a characteristic symbol of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This walkway is expected to open on F1 Grand Prixscheduled for the weekend of June 21-23. MotoGP It comes a month early, specifically the weekend of May 24-26.
Recently, the sports facility’s communication channels published a preview of the renovations to the pit building, where new solar panels are being incorporated.
