ELA, CIG and Catalan inter-indicational unions

The ELA trade union, together with the Galician trade union CIG and the Catalan Intersindical, has called on workers in the sector to support the strike and participate in the called concentrations. They demand, among other things, salary increases that are in line with the profits of banking entities.

The negotiations on the sectoral agreement The banking industry “is not in line with the million-dollar benefits” that many entities have recently made public, nor is it meeting the “workforce needs” to achieve improvements in their working conditions. For these reasons, the union DE A together with the Galician Union CIG and the Catalan Interunion declared a strike on Thursday, February 29.

The negotiating table for a new agreement in the sector has been open for about two months, but the meetings held so far have not yet produced any results. One of the greatest difficulties lies in the major differences between the proposals of union salary increases (depending on inflation and results) and what employers propose.

ELA has declared a strike Hego Euskal Herriaand has organized meetings in Áraba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.

In Bilbaothe protests will take place in front of the headquarters of Banco Santander (Plaza Moyua, 11 a.m.), BBVA (Gran Vía, 11:45 a.m.) and Banco Sabadell (Gran Vía, 12:30 p.m.); in Saint Sebastian , for BBVA (Avenida de la Libertad, 11:00) and Banco Sabadell (Avenida de la Libertad, 11:45); and in Vitoria-Gasteizfor BBVA (Calle Dato, 11:00 am).
