Athletic released a harsh statement to show its position regarding the serious incidents recorded on Thursday in the San Mamés match between the lions and Atlético de Madrid. The Bilbao club condemns the events that took place at the stadium esplanade and reiterates its total commitment to football without violence.
“Through this official statement, the Athletic Club makes public its unrelenting condemnation of the incidents that took place yesterday at the San Mamés esplanade before the semi-final match of the Cup against Atlético de Madrid,” Ibaigane’s note began.
Note where Athletic Club itself “reiterates its total commitment to football without violence, where uncivil behavior or acts of vandalism do not fit in any way.”
Those responsible for the entity of Ibaigane are also not silent when it comes to influencing their position: “The serious conflicts that took place yesterday at the San Mamés esplanade represent a huge discredit for our ideal fans and for the Athletic Club itself .Those who caused trouble, threw down fences, threw bottles and, in other words, acted like mindless ultras do not represent the Athletic Club and deserve the disapproval and rejection of all of us who really make up the athleticzale family.
In this statement, Athletic also expressed its “love and solidarity with the injured people” and wished them a “speedy recovery.”
