German Maximilian Schachmann was very happy to have maintained the yellow jersey on the “relatively chaotic” end of the second stage of Itzulia 2025, one day Navarra with the final Lodosa in which the Australian Caleb ewan (ineos grenadiers) imposed on Sprint.
“It was a good day with a yellow jersey. The last kilometer was a bit chaotic, but my colleagues protected me and, fortunately, I didn’t see that I was involved in that many quarrels,” he said after the stage, remembering the fall of the late day.
On stage tomorrow, with seven points at this point, he said the squad was waiting for “demanding mountainous roads”, though he made a special mention of “difficult climbing near the goal”, the Lazkaomendi Wall (th -3), with sections up to 18 percent and 5.4 km ending.
“Things will be completely different, but we are determined to re -give our best,” he promotes his intention to defend what his sixth yellow jersey will be in various editions of Itzulia Basque country he plays, in one of the most complex finals of this edition.
