500 meters from the starting line to turn 1,300 meters to braking, those are the characteristics of the first start of the year in the F1 World Championship. And from pole position, Max Verstappen kept the initiative despite the pressure put on him by Charles Leclerc, but he kept his composure and a hungry George Russell put himself behind them.
Carlos Sainz lost fourth place to an aggressive Checo Pérez who started very well and tried to pass Russell, but was blocked by Leclerc’s Ferrari to progress. Fernando Alonso maintained sixth position in the opening meters behind Sainz and defended himself from the McLarens of Norris and Piastri.
The only incident occurred in the middle of the pack between the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg, who started tenth on the new soft tyres. It didn’t go well, Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin overtook him and in the funnel of Turn 1 he found himself with no space and caused the Canadian to spin, damaging the front of the Haas. The second Aston Martins also lost positions.
