The Barcelonan Xenia Benach achieved classification in semi-finals of the 60 meter hurdles at the Glasgow Indoor Athletics World Championships by ending his streak with the second fastest time (8.08), just behind the world record holder, Bahamian Devynne Charlton (7.93).
Benach, 23 years old and belonging to the Valencia Athletics Club, ran a perfect race, starting with a reaction time of 0.124 and stopping the clock in 8.08, seven hundredths away from his personal best (8.01).
“I felt very good, very fluid. Warming up I made a good start and now we have to recover because we have another race in the afternoon,” confessed Benach, at the end of the test.
The fastest of all the participants in the six heats was the Polish Pia Skrzyszowska, with 7.80, entering the semifinals with the best time.
