The Hopman Cup 2024taking place on the Côte d’Azur, was postponed due to its proximity to the Paris Olympic Games 2024, as announced this Tuesday by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Tennium, partner of the event.
“With the Hopman Cup and Olympic Games taking place in France this year, Stopping the Hopman Cup until 2025 was a sensible decision. The players committed to this year’s event have been notified and we look forward to seeing them on the Côte d’Azur next year,” said ITF President David Haggerty.
For his part, the founder and CEO of Tennium, Kristoff Puelinckx, said that “We all agree that this is the right thing to do. We are already waiting for the 2025 Hopman Cup“, and I’m excited to see more of the same exciting tennis and amazing crowds we’ve enjoyed in 2023.”
The Hopman Cup was established in 1989, based in Perth, Australia. It was held until 2019, when it was replaced by the ATP Cup calendar, which is now defunct, and resumed in 2023.
Six teams are planned to compete in 2024. The finalists are Croatia and Switzerland, with the Balkan team winning. Spain fell in the semifinals against the Swiss, with a team consisting of Carlos Alcaraz and Rebeka Masarova.
