The honorary president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, has been called to testify in the process being followed against former officials of the German Federation (DFB) for alleged irregularities surrounding the 2006 world championship held in Germany.
The whole scandal revolves around the 6.7 million that reached Qatari official accounts Mohamed Bin Haman and Franz Beckenbauer had received loans from the French businessman Robert Louis-Dreyfous.
The DFB later returned the money to Louis-Dreyfous and declared it an extraordinary expense, so now its former managers are facing a process for tax fraud.
The main question until now is what that money was for. Initially it was said that this was the DFB’s contribution to an opening gala that was ultimately not held. It was later argued that this was a payment from the DFB as a condition for receiving contributions from FIFA for the organization of the World Cup.
He also signed up for a possible bribery of Bin Haman to get your vote to win the World Cup.
Hoeness, who is not involved in the organization of the World Cup, said in a television interview in 2021 that he knows what the 6.7 million was used for and that is why he was called to testify.
