19 highly promising players are part of the Pro Spain Team 2024 Program

Date:

The Pro Spain Team 2024 Program, an initiative of the RFEG in collaboration with the Higher Sports Council, which strives to train and assist elite golfers in their first years in the professional field, has reached its fifteenth edition, three decades of materialization in another huge support: nineteen high-profile golfers under the umbrella of this initiative.

Nine women and ten men, some of them protagonists of good results in different Circuits despite their apparent youth, make up the list of golfers chosen by the RFEG Professional Committee to be part of the aforementioned Pro Spain Team 2024 Program.

The list of golfers selected in this Pro Spain Team 2024 Program, in the men’s category, includes Manuel Elvira, Víctor Pastor, Javier Sainz, Lucas Vacarisas, Víctor García Broto, Joel Moscatel, Quim Vidal, Jorge Maicas – all of them part that of the promotion of the Pro Spain Team 2023 Program – and the new incorporations of Alejandro Aguilera and Ángel Ayora. Ángel Hidalgo, Alejandro del Rey –both with a combined DP World Tour card–, Eduard Rousaud and Álvaro Hernández dropped out compared to 2023.

For its part, in the women’s category, a block that was put together in 2023 is maintained, consisting of Marta Martín, Luna Sobron, Fátima Fernández, Teresa Toscano, Elena Hualde, Paz Marfá, Ana Peláez and María Herráez. Teresa Díez Moliner was added to the group as a novelty, while Harang Lee, Laura Gómez and Marta Pérez left the program after six, four and two periods of stay.

All in all, a consistent group of golfers, all characterized by a unique career, which in 2024 has help facilitating their transition from the beginner stage and allowing a faster integration into the most important Professional Circuits.

It should be noted that in the current group of members of the Pro Spain Team 2024 there is one golfer with a card on the DP World Tour (Manuel Elvira), nine on the Challenge Tour and three on the Alps Tour which is also compatible with the Challenge Tour.

For its part, in the women’s group, one player has an LPGA card, Ana Peláez, in a year that could be key to her professional development. Another seven will compete in tournaments on the Women’s European Tour, while two have the option to play on the Epson Tour in what constitutes a firm commitment to continue their sports careers in the United States, while María Herráez and Elena Hualde will advance to LETAS with some raids in LET.

Gonzaga Escauriaza, President of RFEG, recalled that “it has been fifteen years of extraordinary experience. We are very happy with this program. It was born in 2009 and since then CSD has always been with us. It is a project with a very clear part of hope, of creating a group, of making the athletes see that they have a team, a place to rest their heads.

All members of the Pro Spain Team 2024 benefit from a Program that establishes financial assistance – depending on the Circuit they usually compete in -, training – evaluation by TPI technicians, physical trainers, etc – and management – invitations to tournaments , search for sponsors–, besides taking advantage of the caddy program and the help of a medical consultant as new things in the last two years. They can also use the Golf Center of Excellence located in the practice area of the National Center, a model facility that is at the forefront of world golf.

It should be noted that, in exchange for the technical and financial assistance provided, the selected players undertake, among other things, to dedicate several days to the initiatives of the RFEG (ProAms, concentration of amateur national team, etc.), as well as, in the future, to participate in the Spanish Open or Spanish Professional Championships as long as their obligations allow it.

Azahara Muñoz, Carlota Ciganda, Jorge Campillo, Ignacio Elvira, Adrián Otaegui, Borja Virto, Pedro Oriol, Adrià Arnaus, Santiago Tarrío or Sebastián García, to give a few examples, constitute a clear example of sporting projection from their training from the base until their inclusion in this Program, which this year includes among its members golfers who, already in 2023, have achieved excellent results in various Professional Circuits.
