This Friday, the Communications Palace of Valencia held the official presentation of La Vuelta Femenina 24 through the route of Carrefour.es. The Spanish round, which will have another stage in 2024, starts on Sunday, April 28 in Valencia and ends on May 5 in Valdesquí. Throughout its eight stages, the race will visit eight provinces in five different autonomous communities. In sports, cyclists will face a team time trial, a flat stage, two undulating stages, a medium mountain stage and three mountain stages.
The capital of Valencia, which already has the experience of being the official start of La Vuelta in 1996 and 2002, will host the inaugural team time trial that will have the City of Arts and Sciences and the Oceanogràfic as its epicenter. The second day, starting in Buñol, will travel within the province of Valencia before entering the territory of Castellón to finish in Moncófar.
The third stage will also depart from the province of Castellón, from Lucena, before heading to Teruel on a mid-mountain journey. The next day, the race will make its first foray into the province of Guadalajara to leave Molina de Aragón, before returning to the Aragonese community on the main flat land and experiencing the final stage in its capital, Zaragoza.
The first mountainous day of racing will also arrive with the debut of the Pyrenees in the women’s round. After leaving the capital of Huesca, the platoon will tackle the climb to the second category Alto del Monasterio de San Juan de la Peña, and the final climb to Rapitán Fort, in Jaca. The second high finish of the race will come in the next stage, which will connect Tarazona, in Zaragoza, and La Laguna Negra de Vinuesa, in Soria. A peak that, with two appearances at La Vuelta, has already written the first pages of its cycling history.
In the final weekend of the race, the peloton will leave the territory of Soria, starting from San Esteban de Gormaz, to return to the province of Guadalajara and finish in Sigüenza, with a few last uphill meters that will test the burst of cyclists.
The closing party of this second edition of La Vuelta Femenina of Carrefour.es will be held in the Community of Madrid. First, the departure from the Telefónica District will serve to participate in the company’s centenary celebration, as La Vuelta 24 will also do in its final stage. The peloton will head to the Sierra de Guadarrama, crossing the cycling territory, with the climb to Puerto de la Morcuera, first category, and the final climb to Valdesquí, also the first category, which will crown the final winner of La Vuelta Femenina 24 by Carrefour .es
