The F League sees the end of the nightmare closer

Date:

On February 27, a meeting took place between the Secretary of State for Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes and the president of League F, Beatriz Alvarez. The meeting was very positive for women’s football in terms of the commitment that came from the Government to solve the two main problems experienced by women’s professional football since the presidency of Luis Rubiales, problems that were confirmed by the previous president of CSD, Victor Francos.

The key to everything is in the opinion of the CSD issued in July of last year and which was issued as a result of the still lack of agreement between the RFEF and the F League, an agreement that is still pending negotiations between the two parties. This resolution, issued by the previous Secretary of State, greatly drains the coffers of League F as a result of the two decisions adopted.

On the one hand, it forces the F League to deliver 20% of its commercial income to the RFEF and also establishes that any future commercial agreement of the women’s employers’ association requires authorization from the federation. In addition, there is a conflict in the receipt of arbitration. The RFEF and CSD have agreed to end the referee strike over salaries in September 2022 and it has been agreed that the referee’s salary per match in the women’s competition will be 4,050 euros (1,066 euros per match for the referee, 1,006 for the assistant and 250 for to the fourth referee).

However, throughout the previous season they received an arbitration receipt of 14,646 euros which was also ratified by the CSD in June and which for this season of 2023-2024 was updated from 15,411 euros per game. This means that each club must pay 231,165 euros for referees to the RFEF.

Now it is in the hands of the new CSD to find a solution to these two measures that directly attack the financial health of this league endorsed by the government itself. We will see if he resolves them directly or urges the two parties to sit down and sign the necessary collective agreement.
