Merlier shows intratabe and achieves the triplet in Nokere Koerse

Date:

The Belgian Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick Step) didn’t miss the forecast that gave him top favorite and won for the third year in a row and the sprint at Danilith Nokere Koerse has enormous authoritya Belgian one-day test held between Deinze and Nokere with a route of 188.1 km.

The solvency of Merlier (Wortegem Petegem) when launching and finishing the sprint is impressive, where did not disappoint in the cobbled finale of Nokere, where he raised his arms as a historic triplet. No one can beat him.

Marked by Merlier a time of 4h.08.55, at an average of 45.3 km/hour, ahead of the other favourites, the Dutch Fabio Jakobsen (DSM) and the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin). This was the Soudal sprinter’s fifth victory of the season, and number 40 on his record.

Cobblestone racing and traditional sprint finishes marked the script at all times. A remarkable and harmless escape from the Belgian Abram Stockman (TDT-Unibet) who went nowhere.

The favorite teams were controlled all the time, but in the end there were nerves, many falls and several attempts to change the order. In the Longe Ast section (0.5 km to 3.5), 13 minutes from the finish there was an acceleration that left 9 runners aheadamong them the Belgian Tim Wellens (UAE), who fought alone on several occasions.

But Soudal and Tim Merlier themselves were supportive of any rebellion. There is no way to break the sprint idea. And so he appeared on the cobblestone stretch of Nokere. Earlier, a major drop reduced the number of candidates to 10.

The first, and last, to launch a sprint was Merlier himself, who settled the debate with a stroke of the pen. He attacked from a distance and raised his arms even with a few meters advantage, no doubt. He already has the triplets.
