Alcaraz breaks Djokovic record at Indian Wells… Nadal continues on another level

Date:

Carlos Alcaraz is looking for his place in the semifinals of the Indian Wells tournament this Thursday (11 pm). The Murcian will face one of the players who has created the most problems for him in recent months, Alexander Zverev, his executioner at the previous ATP Finals and at the last Australian Open.

The German dominated the head-to-head with the Spaniard 5-3, but things change when we talk about the Masters 1000. There Alcaraz prevailed 2-0 after winning the two matches played at the Mutua Madrid Open (2022 and 2023), two editions in which he won the title.

And it was that The Wimbledon champion is especially good at the Masters 1000. He already has four titles, Indian Wells (2023), Miami (2022) and Madrid (2022, 2023), and his victory tally has reached 50.

At 20 years old, Alcaraz reached fifty wins in this edition of Indian Wells, surpassing Novak Djokovic. The Serbian, before turning 21, had 48 winsa figure that allowed him to surpass other greats in recent tennis history such as Andy Roddick (45) or Lleyton Hewitt (41).

However, Alcaraz’s 50 victories before the age of 21 was not enough to make him the most successful at that age. Actually, it’s not even close.

Rafa Nadal holds a hard-earned privilege with his 82 winsa figure that Alcaraz will never reach no matter how good he is in the coming months.

The Murcian He will turn 21 on Sunday, May 5, the day of the Mutua Madrid Open finalfor him to reach 70 if he wins everything (the three games he would have left in Indian Wells, the six in Miami, the five in Motecarlo and the six in Madrid).
