The death of Konstantin Koltsov rocked the tennis world on Tuesday. The former ice hockey player and partner of Aryna Sabalenka died suddenly at the age of 42, in a tragic event in which more details became known as the hours passed.
According to Belarusian media ‘smartpress.by’, Koltsov died from a thrombus that traveled to a vital organcausing the fall of Belarusian.
“We are in mourning. The Belarusian Hockey Federation expresses its most sincere condolences to the family, friends and all those who knew and worked with Konstantin,” it wrote on its website.
During his career, the Belarusian hockey player played in the NHLthe North American ice hockey championship, with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Aryna Sabalenkawho has yet to comment on the matter, is in Miami, where he is supposed to participate in the Miami Open starting Thursday.
Sabalenka and Koltsov have been together since June 2021according to People magazine, and the couple shared photos and videos through social networks.
“I love you. happy birthday my love You are my dearest person, my best friend and my strongest support. Peace be with you, strength, patience and health. I hope we have everything we planned, I love you,” the tennis player wrote in a post to wish her on her birthday on April 17.
