In a globalized world, cycling cannot be alien to this reality. The best races are broadcast worldwide – like Cycling Tour in Catalonia which reaches more than 190 countries – and the teams are looking at new or emerging markets, which we can define as breakthroughs, new business opportunities, such as Burgos BH. The Burgos team has renewed its squad with the aim of being the most competitive this year and among its arrivals two stand out, the New Zealander. Aaron Gate and the mongol one Jambaljamts Sainsbayar. After these first months of the season, Burgos BH can boast a total of seven wins, and yes, six of them came. Aaron Gateincluding everything New Zealand and most of them in minor races, but victories nevertheless; and one achieved by cAranda del Duero cyclist Mario Aparicio.
So far the successes of Jambaljamts Sainsbayar (27 years old) They haven’t arrived yet. He Mongolian champion He has been competing for 20 days and his debut in Europe and the World Tourin the highest division of cycling, has reached the Return to Catalonia. We caught up with the Ulaanbaatar rider to tell us how his adaptation to new cycling is going. “This is my first WorldTour race and it helps me gain experience. I enjoy competing at the highest level, even though I’m not in my best physical condition yet. I had a bit of ‘jet lag’ coming from competing in Taiwan. We came here with great climbers to do well in the general classification. “I was able to breakaway and today (yesterday) the sprint finish in Lleida was good for me, but I couldn’t find a good position.”
The adaptation
Jambaljamts recognizes – this year his best result was 4th in a stage of Tour of Taiwan– which is in an adaptation phase. “It is my first year as a professional and I am happy with the team. The type of racing in Asia is very different. There you have to make long trips to compete and there are not many mountains. There are many flat highway races. Here there are routes with narrower roads, technical curves and long climbs. All the rivals are at a very high level.”
What he cannot hide in his excitement to see how his childhood dream has become a reality: “Burgos BH gave me a great opportunity, allowing me to achieve my dream of becoming a professional cyclist, something I have wanted since I was a teenager.” When I ran to Terengganu -team before Burgos- know Damien Garcia, one of the sports directors of Burgos BH. He wanted to see me racing in Europe and he offered me this opportunity. My representative agency (Gorama Cycling) He is also Spanish and my coach in Terengganu, Jeremy Hunt, spoke about me to the team. “Now I can face new challenges as a cyclist and I want to continue to grow every year.”
To do this, Jambaljamts spent several weeks in Burgos, staying at Hotel Ciudad de Burgosthe base of operations of the Burgos team, and conducted specific training in Madrid, Benidorm and some concentration on Andorra.
At the moment it just signed on Burgos BH for this season and its next two races on the calendar is the La Route Adélie de Vitré (March 29) and Paris Olympic Games in the summer.
