An 84-year-old was lost on Easter Monday during a walk in the Ramsauer Mountains (Upper Austria). The next morning, after a night on the mountain, he chose the emergency call. And then his mobile phone battery also gave up the mind.
Almost exactly 24 hours, after an 84-year-old from St. Agatha on Easter Monday at around 11 am to a walk in the Ramsauer Mountains, Rescuers found the hypothermic pensioners among the Löckerkoglhütte on 954 Seemern. The walker was lost and then decided to spend one night on the mountain at about seven degrees and light rain.
Search area was huge
The next morning he initially informed his neighbors, then he chose the emergency call around 6.20 am. But he was only able to announce his estimated location. Due to the vague information and the size of the search area, the police helicopter was therefore ordered as a reinforcement.
Handy battery went out
At 7.30 the telephone connection was torn off with the 84-year-old: his mobile telephone battery was empty. Around 10.30 am – and therefore almost 24 hours after starting his walk – the pensioner was found by the Gosau Mountain Rescue and the Alpine Police. Hypotherm, but otherwise good. The helicopter saved the walker at rope.
