UEFA makes the distribution of revenues from the new Champions League official

Date:

The UEFA just sent to all federations and member clubs the detailed distribution of the future Champions League and that launches the format from next season 2024-2025 to 2026-2027. In total, UEFA will distribute 3,317 million euros between clubs, of which 2,467 million, representing 74.38%, will be distributed to clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup .

Some 565 million euros, representing 17.02%, are allocated to the Europa League and 285 million, 8.60%, to the new Conference League. The first payment goes to the clubs participating in the qualifiers and for which UEFA will allocate 30 million. Clubs removed will receive a fixed fee of 4.29 million euros. Those who continue will not receive any payment as they will do so for participating in the final stage of the Champions League.

In the final phase during the 2024-2027 cycle, a total of 2,437 million euros is planned to be distributed and will be divided into three pillars: 27.5% will be equally allocated in an initial phase for the final phase (670 million) ; 37.5% will be allocated to fixed values related to wins or draws (914 million) and 35% will be allocated to the newly created value pillar in this new competition (853 million).

The league earned 18.62 million

The first pillar of the initial payment of 670 million euros means that each of the 36 clubs qualified for the new phase of the league will receive 18.62 million euros, divided into an initial payment of 17.87 million euros and a balance of 750,000 euros. Furthermore, and within the performance of 914, this means that each victory will be paid 2.1 million euros and 700,000 euros for a draw.

But this new Champions format comes with a new league classification bonus where each team will be paid an amount based on their final classification in the league stage. The total amount available for the league ranking bonus is divided into 666 equal parts. The initial amount is 275,000 euros. The lowest ranked team will receive this amount and so on until the best ranked team will receive 9.9 million euros. Everything saved from undistributed amounts of winnings or draws will further increase this game.

In addition, clubs 1 to 8 in the league standings will receive an additional €2 million and clubs 9 to 16 will receive an additional €1 million.

The new distribution in direct qualifications

And then there are the direct qualifiers that will be played when this preliminary league ends and includes a round of 16 tie. The teams that participate in this round of 16 tie (those classified between 9 and 24) will receive one million per club. All those who play in the round of 16 will earn 11 million euros, of which 12.5 will be added if they advance to the quarterfinals, 15 if they play in the semifinals and 18.5 for the two finalists.

The winner of the three editions of the Champions League will also receive 6.5 million euros. A victory that means 4 million more for participation in the Super Cup which, if won, will mean another million. Then the winner of the 2024-2025 Champions League ensures the competition’s income of 86 million just for passing the stages. Without counting the remaining concepts.

A new game for audiovisual rights

Because this new Champions League also includes a third pillar of value where up to 853 million euros will be distributed. It is a combination of the old market pool (market value of each country) and the coefficient (market value of each club). The value pillar consists of two parts, one European and one non-European. The amounts to be allocated to the two parties will be proportional to the actual sales results of the audiovisual rights for that competition in the UEFA markets and in other world markets. In both cases during the 2024-2027 cycle.
