Carlos Alcaraz remains tough at the Miami Open. The Murcian, who added this Tuesday against Lorenzo Musetti (6-3, 6-3) his ninth straight victory on American soil, now awaits in the quarterfinals the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (n.12), who came back from Pole Hubert Hurkacz (n. .9) by 3-6, 6-3 and 7-6(3) in two hours and 41 minutes.
The Murcian dominates the previous ones between the two (3-1)but Dimitrov won their last match (Shanghai round of 16 in 2023).
“I’m really happy with my performance today. I think it was a complete game on my part,” said one from El Palmar.
“I think I solved the problems I had. I had a hard time during the rallies. I know I have to do it at important moments too. “I’m very happy with that,” he added.
Alcaraz remembers that the Bulgarian won their last match, he referred to him as a “very smart and tough” tennis player and warns of his rival’s big danger: his ‘slice’ hits.
After the game, Alcaraz said he was having a very sweet moment personally and athletically.
“Obviously winning Indian Wells is very important for me. On the personal side, thanks to that tournament I started to get better, on and off the track. Yes, now I feel happy every day with my team, with my close people. My family is here. It’s a very important support for me too,” said the Spaniard in a press conference.
“I like to train, I enjoy training. Now I am at a good point professionally as well as personally.. Let’s hope it continues and we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. But right now, I’m thinking about what I’m feeling and it’s a great feeling,” he added.
