The Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20) was the first Kenyan rally leaderthird round of the specialty World Championship, by winning the inaugural super special, 4.84 kilometers, with a tenth advantage over Estonian Ott Tanak.
Neuville set a time of 3:19.9, compared to his teammate’s 3:20.0. The two Hyundais i20 Hybrids went to Finnish Kalle Rovanpera, current world champion, and Japanese Takamoto Katsuta, both with Toyota Yaris, who stopped the clock in 3:20.7 and 3:20.8, respectively.
The Belgian is the overall leader of the World Cup after testing in Monte Carlo and Sweden with 48 points, three more than the British Elfyn Evans (Toyota), who was sixth in the first stage of the Kenyan rally at 1.7.
The first phase will be held on Fridaywhich will consist of six timed sections, covering Loldia (19.17 km), Geothermal (13.12 km) and Kedong (31.5 km) twice.
