1-4: Netherlands beat Belgium using double Memphis

Date:

The Netherlands handed one of the most embarrassing defeats in their history to their eternal rival and neighbor Belgium at the King Baudouin stadium. A 1-4 in which Louis van Gaal’s team humiliated Roberto Martínez’s team on the first day of Group 4 of League A of the Nations League.

Azulgrana Memphis Depay, author of the double, teamed up to win and became the third highest scorer in Dutch team history with 41 goals, surpassing Patrick Kluivert. Only Robin van Persie (50) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (42) remain ahead of him.

Bergwjin’s great goal

Frenkie de Jong, the other Barça player who started in the Netherlands, gave a 0-1 assist to Steven Bergwijn, who received a backhand that quickly unleashed a whip from 25 meters that went hard into the goalpost. Simon Mignolet, who was fired by Thibaut Courtois, dropped out due to pubalgia.

It was the 40th minute and the great goal justified the superiority of the ‘oranje’ on the pitch despite the fact that Belgium, with Kevin de Bruyne and Eden Hazard as starters, were better started and Thorgan Hazard dropped a shot with his left foot on the squad in the 13th minute.

The ‘oranje’, owner of the party

After this threat, the Netherlands took up the fight and the mobility of their strikers caused confusion in a Belgian defense, made up of veterans Toby Alderweireld and Jan vertonghen, who provided plenty of space.

Mignolet avoided 0-1 with the body after coming on from Berghuis (16 ‘) and Memphis also touched the goal after controlling a cross from Daley Blind and soloing a shot very close to the post (18 ‘).

Lukaku has retired

Before the half -hour mark Romelu Lukaku had to retire after injuring himself in a fight for the ball with Nathan Aké (26 ‘). The ‘oranje’ increased their superiority and both Blind and Berghuis were about to score two shots without reaching the goal very little.

Mignolet frustrated Memphis with a half-turn shot before Berghuis opened the scoring with the help of Frenkie de Jong.

Hazard, replaced at break

At the break, Roberto Martínez left Real Madrid player Eden Hazard in the dugout, lacking in rhythm, and brought in Dries Mertens, but instead of Belgian reaction, it was 0-2. Davy Klassen stole the ball from Dedryck Boyata in the center circle and Berghuis entered the ball in Memphis, who stood alone against Mignolet and beat him (51 ‘).

Jan Vertonghen was able to get Belgium back into the game with the Chilean half coming off the crossbar (53 ‘), but the ‘oranje’ were condemned to re -exploit the facilities of the opposing defense.

Mignolet deflected a shot from Berghuis, but the ball fell to Blind, who served Denzel Dumfries 0-3 on a layup (62 ‘).

Memphis is sealing his double

The 0-4 once again left behind the ‘red devils’ as evidence. Virgil van Dijk sent long and Blind, with a header, helped Memphis, with no problem controlling and shooting Mignolet (66 ‘).

With all that has been decided, Belgium is proud to go for the purpose of honor. Mertens, without an angle, sent the ball to the post and in extra time Michy Batshuayi beat Jasper Cillessen by pushing, unmarked, a cent from Toby Alderweireld.
