The referee who will blow the whistle this coming Wednesday for the first leg of the match is already known. FC Barcelona he is new Paris Saint-Germain at the stadium Princes Park. This season, English is synonymous with success for Spanish football. He has whistled three matches in the Champions League so far, and all against Spanish teams. Starting from Barcelona who whistled a 0-1 win at Port. But he also whistled Real Sociedad – Benfica (3-1) and the Feyenoord-Atlético de Madrid (1-3). But this is also the second time he has whistled in this rivalry as he did so in the round of 16 of 2021 when the Blaugranas drew 1-1 and that meant the Blaugranas were eliminated.
PSG have never lost to the Englishman
It was the fifth time he whistled for the Blaugranas with a balance of victory against Port, two draws and one loss. This happened in October 2022 when they fell in the group stage 0-2 with Bayern Munich.
This is the seventh time he has scored against the French and they are still undefeated against the English. The balance is five wins and one draw.
